I came across a familiar territory residing here in Quezon , Province Philippines

The City of Tayabas,"http://tayabas.ph/" Quezon (Filipino: Lungsod ng Tayabas, Quezon) is a component city in the province of Quezon, Philippines. It was once the capital of the province. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 70,985 people in 15,155 households. Tayabas is known for lambanog (coconut wine) and sweet food/delicacies, as well as resorts.

On March 18, 2007, Republic Act No. 9398, An Act Converting the Municipality of Tayabas in the Province of Quezon into a Component City to be known as City of Tayabas, was enacted into law. On July 14, 2007, the municipality held a plebiscite to ratify the conversion of the said act, with the residents voting in favor of the move, although there was a low turnout of voters for the plebiscite.

Risk Management

My group are working on our thesis project. Well, what is the risk behind this project.

Construction projects have to be performed in complex dynamic environments
that are often characterized by uncertainty and risk.

so this are the common risk of my group in creating 3D movie....

Gold Plating

We are creating some scene that are not connectef to the movie.

Insufficient schedule reserve

with cost and duration values being random variables, schedule

and cost "margin" is needed. How much margin needs to be determined by some analytical

means. Guessing and using some standard ( 10 days per month) usually is wrong. Knowing

where to put the margin is the next step.

Inadequate or incorrect resource planning

the notion that people will sort out the sequencing of the work for themselves is nonsense. A resource assignment plan at some level of granularity is needed.

Poor or unrealistic activity duration estimates

the "art" of estimating is largely overrated. Using probabilistic estimating techniques where the upper and lower bounds of the cost or duration is the starting point. With these estimates, classified is a geometric expansion series, the sensitivity of the cost and schedule model can be exposed. The traditional estimating process of asking for "high" and "low" estimates has been to shown to be seriously flawed.

Poor performance

late starts mean late finishes. No completing on time – as planned – simply pushes all the work to the right. The developers (or any project content provider) MUST start on time in order to finish on time. Late finishes usually mean late starts for the next collection of tasks. You can't make this up by working harder. That just spends more money.

Unrealistic schedule baseline
if the schedule is not credible to begin with, it never gets better

Uncertainty in work scope (e.g. new design, advanced technology, new processes)
adding more variance to the schedule cannot improve its credibility.

Inexperienced project management
nothing succeeds like success. You’ve got to start somewhere, so start as a deputy to a good project or program manager and learn the ropes from her success.

Project Management

Project management is a carefully planned and organized effort to accomplish a specific (and usually) one-time effort, for example, construct a building or implement a new computer system. Project management includes developing a project plan, which includes defining project goals and objectives, specifying tasks or how goals will be achieved, what resources are need, and associating budgets and timelines for completion. It also includes implementing the project plan, along with careful controls to stay on the "critical path", that is, to ensure the plan is being managed according to plan. Project management usually follows major phases (with various titles for these phases), including feasibility study, project planning, implementation, evaluation and support/maintenance.

by: http://www.managementhelp.org

This are some charts of our thesis project("DELETE KEY") , I made it using Microsoft Project. and this is part of our Prefinals EXAM.

To know more information:
click it to enlarge

1. Milestone Chart

In general, a milestone is a task that represents a significant date in a project, such as the completion of a project phase, or the date a particular report is due.

For Microsoft Project to be aware that a particular task is a milestone, its Milestone field must be set to Yes. Microsoft Project sets this value to Yes automatically for any tasks you enter with a duration of zero. To create milestones out of nonzero duration tasks, use the method appropriate for your version of Microsoft Project.

Microsoft Project 3.0

1.

On the view menu, click a task view, such as Gantt Chart or Task Sheet.

2.

Select the task you want to flag as a milestone.

3.

On the Edit menu, click Form.

4.

Click to select the Milestone check box.

5.

Click OK.

This task is now marked as a milestone.

By default, the Gantt Chart is set up to show a single black diamond for a milestone task. When you mark a nonzero duration task as a milestone, the Gantt Chart will only display the milestone marker; it will NOT display a bar between the task start and finish dates.

click it to enlarge

2. WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)

In project management, a work breakdown structure (WBS) is an exhaustive, hierarchical (from general to specific) tree structure of deliverables and tasks that need to be performed to complete a project.

The purpose of a WBS is to identify terminal elements (the actual items to be done in a project). Therefore, WBS serves as the basis for much of project planning.

Work breakdown structure is very common project management tool. Many United States government statements of work require work breakdown structures.

How to build a WBS

uld be activity-oriented or deliverable-oriented is a subject of much discussion. There are also various approaches to building the WBS for a project (see e.g. How to Build a Work Breakdown Structure below). Project management software, when used properly, can be very helpful in developing a WBS, although in early stages of WBS development, plain sticky notes are the best tool (especially in teams)

click it to enlarge

  curve3.

An S-Curve is a sigmoid function, that is a mathematical process or function that results in a S shaped curve also called a Sigmoid Curve. The S-Curve is used in project management as a means of representing the various expenditures of resources over the projected time of the project or as a means of charting the real-time expenditure of resources. This is important to project management in that it can be used to monitor the project as is progresses and compare it to the projected S-Curve to determine whether or the project is being completed within the time and budget limitations. These resources might be the cumulative cost of the project, the number of man hours required at any given stage in the project, the expenditure of raw materials for construction or assembly, etc.

The term S-Curve can also be used to indicate an S shaped chart resulting from a cumulative likelihood distribution. In this function, an S-Curve is a tool of quantitative risk analysis which project management would use to determine the possible dangers of any given course of action.

PERT/CPM

at first it so hard to capture this graph so i decided to divided it to 3. just click it to enlarge

PERT chais a project management tool used to schedule, organize, and coordinate tasks within a project. PERT stands for Program Evaluation Review Technique, a methodology developed by the U.S. Navy in the 1950s to manage the Polaris submarine missile program. A similar methodology, the Critical Path Method (CPM) was developed for project management in the private sector at about the same time.

A PERT chart presents a graphic illustration of a project as a network diagram consisting of numbered nodes (either circles or rectangles) representing events, or milestones in the project linkclassed by labelled vectors (directional lines) representing tasks in the project. The direction of the arrows on the lines indicates the sequence of tasks.

The PERT chart is sometimes preferred over the Gantt chart, another popular project management charting method, because it clearly illustrates task dependencies. On the other hand, the PERT chart can be much more difficult to interpret, especially on complex projects. Frequently, project managers use both techniques.

R.U.T.H BAND

R.U.T.H BAND

(left) Arron Adrian Javal, John Joseph Morfe, Mark Jayson Porte, Daniel Joshua Parreño John Kimuel Nieva.

Bale Itong BANDANG TO eh, pahinga muna. An organization that uses computer and telecommunications technologies to extend its capabilities by working routinely with employees or contractors located throughout the country or the world. Using e-mail, faxes, instant messaging, data and videoconferencing, it implies a high degree of telecommuting as well as using remote facilities. and this are the following advantage of a virtual company

1.Cost

Gains from lower overhead costs-no rent,
rates, building maintenance, energy costs etc.

2.Time and Focus

For staff with young children there is no lateness due to child minders arriving late,no time off because the children are ill, no days spent with poor concentration because they are worrying what the children are doing in the holidays or if they are sick. Disruption is kept to a minimum all round, so overall the company gains. We have also found that teleworking staff tend to be more flexible than their office based counterparts. This may be simply a function of the personal qualities which make a good teleworker, but may also be a direct benefit which the company reaps from motivated staff who are empowered to determine their own working patterns. The
staff Gain as they report that the ‘quality’ time they spend with their family has increased as they are spending no time travelling to and from work. Most staff arrange their day around their families, working the hours the job requires and yet at times which suit them.

3.Effectivity

For effective management of the virtual company we should consider communication of the factors influencing the virtual company and properties of a management system, allowing adequately answering pressure of a business environment.

B.

1.Email Etiquette

For most people who have access to personal computers, email has rapidly overtaken ‘snail mail’ as the preferred means of sending written communication, both business and personal. The near-immediate delivery and low cost of email are hard to beat, but the technology does have limitations when it comes to typographic finesse. Here are some dos and don’ts to ensure that your electronic communication is received with its message intact.

2.Forum etiquette

Forum etiquette means maintaining a standard of posting behavior that is acceptable and appropriate. Forum etiquette can be flexible, according to the subject of the forum, but there are certain standards most people expect others to maintain. Some lines must be drawn for the safety of all posting on the forum. One of the staunchest rules of forum etiquette is not posting personal information about another poster. Even if that poster has all but drawn a map to his house, posting a real name or address is considered grounds for a permanent ISP ban on most forums. This could compromise someone's safety. This is probably the most serious breach of forum etiquette and most moderators take it very seriously.

3.Chat etiquette

Just as in real life, how you speak leaves an impression on others. Although we all make the occasional typographical error now and then, misspelling every other word you type can be irritating to others if they have to constantly try to figure out what it is you're saying. DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS. Everyone will think you're constantly shouting about something. On the other hand, typing in all lower case is considered mumbling. When first entering a chat room, it is a good idea to just simply type the word "Hello" and then wait and read the conversation a few minutes. This gives you an idea as to what the current conversation is about, before you start adding your own comments.

C.
1. Hiring

There are some benefits of hiring virtual employees, cost, high skill levels, The one caution you need to explore before undertaking such a decision, is how to manage a virtual employee. Be sure you ask your vendor who provides these services about their process for managing this person. You as a client need to adapt your employment model and learn how to manage virtual employees. There are a great number of benefits but it does not come free. Find a good vendor and they can help you along the process.

2.Communication

Communication is fundamental to any form of organizing, but it is preeminent in virtual organizations. Without communication, the boundary-spanning among virtual entities would not be possible. Electronic communication enables parties to link across distance, time, culture, departments, and organizations, thereby creating "anyone/anytime/anyplace" alternatives to the traditional same-time, same-place, functionally-centered, in-house forms of organizational experience.. So when handling a company like this, comminication is a vital tool to survive.

3. Culture

Expectations of how to get work done, and assuming general guidelines for working together, as it applies to the ambiguities of a formal relationship, is an important role of culture. A virtual organization would have the challenge of imparting this same role of culture, in place of the culture that organically develops when you have people hanging around one another in a centralized office. Possible solutions might be coordinating people that come from similar work backgrounds, or possibly using training to ensure that the work relationship is more strongly
formalized.
